Orthodontics for Children and Adults
Elk Grove Dental Care offer orthodontics for all ages. We offer traditional straight wire braces as well as Invisalign® and clear aligner therapy. Our office has a non-extraction philosophy towards orthodontics and whenever possible treat patients with expansion therapy instead of extractions. Studies have shown that by expanding the arches the patient’s long term esthetics are more pleasing than those of patients who have had teeth extracted to make room.
Orthodontics are not only important for the appearance of straighter teeth they are also very important for chewing and jaw function, airway obstruction, uneven teeth wear and periodontal issues. Having narrow and restrictive arches can cause airway obstruction and difficulty with proper breathing causing issues in children such as diminished growth and poor concentration skills due to lack of sleep caused by breathing issues. Crowded teeth make it very difficult to properly clean between them causing periodontal problems. Having jaw misalignment can cause TMJ issues.
We have more than 20 years of dental experience on our side, and utilize proven techniques for creating and maintaining straighter smiles. Some of the most common dental problems that are remedied by braces include the following:
- Crowding of Teeth
- Difficulty Chewing
- Facial Imbalance
- Protruding Teeth
- Speech Difficulty
Enjoy Your Best Smile with Clear Invisalign®
We offer Invisalign® invisible orthodontic treatment. As an alternative to traditional brackets the invisible tray systems are a great way to straighten teeth without looking like you are wearing braces. Invisalign® can solve multiple orthodontic issues while being virtually unnoticeable. They also have the added convenience of less trips to the office because it eliminates the need for the ties to be changed each month. A series of aligner trays that are changed weekly or biweekly are given to you to take home so that you can change to a new aligner tray when you are due without having to return to our office for each step. The removable trays help you keep better oral hygiene because they can be taken out to brush and floss your teeth as opposed to trying to clean around traditional brackets. Aligner therapy treatments are great for adults who have had braces previously but teeth have shifted, you can re-straighten them without having to have brackets again. The invisible braces are also great for responsible teenagers who do not want to be seen with brackets on their teeth.
Invisalign® clear braces allow you to straighten your teeth without anyone knowing. Because the braces are removable, you can still eat and drink anything that you’d like throughout the duration of the treatment, and you’ll also be able to brush and floss normally in order to maintain good oral hygiene. Since being introduced nearly 20 years ago, Invisalign® has been proven as an effective orthodontic treatment in clinical research and practices nationwide. After we fit a tray of clear aligners to accommodate and straighten your teeth, you’ll wear the aligners for a period of about two weeks and should only remove them to eat, drink, floss, and brush.
With the replacement of each aligner in the series, your teeth will slowly move little by little until they have become fully straightened into the final position that we have prescribed. The time and number of aligners necessary will vary from case to case, so you may require more or less
Keep Your Teeth Straight with Teeth Retainers
After removing your braces at the end of your orthodontic treatment, we provide you with teeth retainers to ensure that your teeth will remain in their straightened position. Wearing a retainer on a regular basis is the best way to guarantee the lasting straightness of your teeth. That way, your teeth won’t revert to their original positioning and undo the work that our orthodontic treatment has done over time.
